Cervical Discectomy
The Percutaneous Endoscopic Cervical Discectomy (PECD) is for patients with symptoms of neuralgia by the compression of the shoulder and arm due to the herniation of the disc nucleus from a ruptured annular fiber. Unlike conventional surgery which requires skin incisions and the removal of the whole disc, the procedure preserves most of the disc tissue to minimize complications.
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
Coronary bypass surgery is open-heart surgery to improve blood flow by creating a new path to re-route blood and oxygen around a clogged artery or arteries. Healthy arteries and veins from other parts of the body (often a vein from the leg) are attached to the coronary artery above and below the blocked area, allowing blood to bypass the clog or diseased area to reach the heart muscle. If more than one artery is blocked, more bypass grafts are required.
Endovascular Neurosurgery
Instituto FLENI's Endovascular Neurosurgery and Interventional Radiology Team (ENERI) Section is responsible for the treatment of patients with aneurysms, cerebral malformations and cerebrovascular conditions. Since ENERI was created, its objective has been to provide leading edge, emerging clinical applications of technology. In line with this objective, ENERI has recently introduced the Three Dimensional Biplanar Digital Philips Allura Angiograph, unique of its kind in Latin America, that provides top imaging definition and allows for accurate diagnosis and treatment. This unit provides unprecedented information by integrating images obtained in rotational angiographies and delivering three dimensional views that rotate to reveal useful anatomical details in critical vascular areas.
Gamma Knife   Stereotactic Radiosurgery
Stereotactic radiosurgery uses small radiation doses directed at a specific area of the brain in order to treat lesions located in cerebral areas where surgical access is difficult or impossible. Stereotactic surgical biopsies can also allow diagnosis of deep cerebral lesions. The clinical applications of the Leksell Gamma Knife continue to grow. Liiterature indicates that the success rate in metastatic tumors reaches 90% and the total obliteration rate in arteriovenous malformations is approximately 80%. The excellent results and low morbility reported have made Gamma Knife the first therapy option for a growing number of patients.
Gastric Bypass
Gastric bypass surgery makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. You will feel full more quickly than when your stomach was its original size, which reduces the amount of food you eat and thus the calories consumed. Bypassing part of the intestine also results in fewer calories being absorbed.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • 3-4 night hospital stay
  • 5-6 night local stay (total in-country stay of 8-10 nights)

Heart Valve Replacement
Heart valve surgery is performed to replace heart valves that are not functioning properly. The four heart valves control the blood flow between the four chambers of the heart.
Hip Replacement   Hip Arthroplasty
Total hip joint replacement involves surgical removal of the diseased ball and socket and replacing them with a metal ball and stem inserted into the femur bone and an artificial plastic cup socket.
Hip Resurfacing   Surface Replacement Arthroplasty
Hip Resurfacing, or Surface Replacement Arthroplasty, is a bone-saving and effective alternative to conventional Total Hip Replacement Surgery. This procedure, recently approved by the FDA, will allow a patient to lead a normal lifestyle, as compared to the restrictions that are usually imposed after Hip Replacement Surgery.
Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy is surgical removal of the uterus, and sometimes also the cervix.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • 2 night hospital stay
  • 7 night local rehab stay (Recovery Resort)
  • 3 meals per day
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers to and from all medical appointments
  • English-speaking concierge services
Knee Replacement   Knee Arthroplasty
Knee replacement surgery can be performed as a partial or a total knee replacement. In general, the surgery consists of replacing the diseased or damaged joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • Hospital stay (per provider recommendation)
  • Local rehab stay (per provider recommendation)
  • 3 meals per day
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers to and from all medical appointments
  • English-speaking concierge services
Lap Band Surgery   Gastric Banding
A gastric band device is introduced through tiny (1cm) incisions in the abdomen and is placed around the upper part of the stomach. The resulting pouch (or the "new stomach") dramatically reduces the functional capacity of the stomach. The band has a balloon from the inside that is adjustable and can reduce stoma size, thus prolonging the period of fullness. For an article on Bariatric procedudures overseas, click here.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • 10 night local stay
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers to and from all medical appointments
  • English-speaking concierge services
Myomectomy   Uterine Fibroid Removal
Myomectomy is a procedure in which uterine fibroids, which affect nearly 30% of women, are surgically removed from the uterus. While many fibroids do not need treatment, others can cause abnormal uterine bleeding, pressure, pain, or other symptoms.
While hysterectomy is frequently done to treat fibroids, many women are looking for alternatives if they wish to have children or simply do not want to lose their uterus.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • 2 night hospital stay
  • 7 night local rehab stay (Recovery Resort)
  • 3 meals per day
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers to and from all medical appointments
  • English-speaking concierge services
Shoulder Replacement   Shoulder Arthroplasty
Total shoulder replacement surgery is performed to remove all or part of the shoulder joint, and replace it with a prosthetic implant, usually to relieve arthritis pain or to fix severe physical joint damage.
Spinal Fusion   Lumbar and Cervical
A spinal fusion surgery is designed to stop the motion at a painful vertebral segment, which in turn should decrease pain generated from the joint. There are many approaches to lumbar spinal fusion surgery, and all involve adding bone graft to an area of the spine to set up a biological response that causes the bone graft to grow between the two vertebral elements and create a fusion, thereby stopping the motion at that segment.
Stenting
Stenting involves using a catheter to implant a tiny expandable wire mesh tube in a diseased blood vessel to hold it open for better blood flow. It can be done on any artery or vein in the body. Most often, stenting is used in combination with coronary balloon angioplasty.
Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic surgery is performed in the chest (thorax) to treat organs or tissues which are injured or diseased, including the lungs, esophagus, trachea, pleura (membranes that cover the lungs), mediastinum (area between the two lungs), chest wall and diaphragm. Thoracic surgery is most often done to treat lung cancer, chest trauma, esophageal cancer, emphysema, and lung transplantation.
Total Disc Replacement
Artificial disc replacement offers a reversible, viable alternative to fusion that possibly avoids the accepted shortcomings of fusion. By inserting an artificial disc instead of performing spinal fusion, there is the possibility of reducing damage to nearby discs and joints. This is because artificial disc replacement allows for motion preservation, near normal distribution of stress along the spine and restoration of pre-degenerative disc height.

Package Pricing includes:

  • Pre and post operative consultations
  • Surgery and all associated costs
  • 12 night local stay
  • Airport transfers
  • Transfers to and from all medical appointments
  • English-speaking concierge services
Vascular Surgery
Vascular surgery involves diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases of the circulatory system (arteries, veins and lymphatics) system. Most often, the diseases are altherosclerosis – narrowing of the arteries, or thrombophlebitis – swelling of the veins caused by a blood clot. Surgeries include Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Vascular Access, Peripheral Vascular, and Endoluminal Treatment.
