BHUBANESWAR: US-based Euthenic Group Consortium has evinced keen interest in promoting medical tourism in Orissa and set up a 1,000 bed-super speciality hospital in the State.
A delegation from the company led by Dr Kokila, director, corporate affairs, met Health and Family Welfare Minister Prasanna Acharya at the Secretariat here today and discussed the project. It is estimated that the project will cost Rs 1,500 crore.
The group which implements projects in the public private partnership (PPP) mode has presence in many countries of the world. After completion of the project, it will be handed over to the State Government. The hospital will be the property of the State Government.
The hospital will be established keeping in view the present and future health needs of the people of the State. The delegation maintained that the State Government will also earn foreign exchange through medical tourism.
The project needs 100 acres of land.
Sources said that the Health Minister has asked the company officials to submit the detailed project report (DPR) to the State Government as early as possible. A date for signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be fixed after receipt of the DPR.
Company officials maintained that the project will take 18 to 24 months for completion after signing of the MoU.
