“I received a bilateral mastectomy in July, 2009. HealthGlobe made a very difficult time much easier. They were in daily contact, as needed, and arranged for the following: hospital; medical recovery ranch; and transport. They took care of obtaining my stateside medical records and forwarding them to the hospital in Costa Rica. Their staff was in daily contact with me while I was in Costa Rica, and was available to advocate at all times. I even received followup calls after I had returned home. All my questions were answered clearly, and in a timely way. The experience was entirely a "one stop shop." The customer service was extraordinary.
At the hospital, I had an English translator available at all times if I needed one. The service and efficiency at the hospital were comparable to what U.S. care had been before the advent of managed care. My surgeon was responsive to all my needs, including appropriate pain management. The medical recovery ranch provided 24/7 nursing care; gourmet meals, and a delightful ambience. Post surgical massage was available daily. I was even able to participate in a private day of touring before I left.
In sum, I received outstanding care in supurb facilities; two weeks at a recovery ranch; touring; and airfare - all for the price that my PPO insurance copay would have charged. In addition, my condition was treated aggressively. One operation resolved everything. This is in contrast to my U.S. insurance, which insisted upon an incremental approach that would have involved multiple procedures. The result would have been too little, too late.
